kayak couture done ish

Submitted byhoward onWed, 01/23/2019 - 21:18

Well All,

With the arrival of a beautiful custom seat from Joe Greenley at Redfish Kayak, my Kayak Couture project is done short of some final fitting adjustments on the seat when we get back to some decent weather here (20 degrees here today, even the lawn is frozen solid).  The boat replaces my wife's sassy Chesapeake 14 that is approaching 20 years old now (but still in great shape).

Pigmy Kayak

Submitted byRandy onSun, 12/23/2018 - 15:04

I am working very hard to get my plane ready to cover by spring. I also have to 'acquire' a kayak for my wife by spring, build or buy. (5'3" 125 lbs.) Not crazy about buying and very limited build time so I am considering a Pigmy kit that I could do part time and have completed by spring.

I don't remember seeing any comments on this forum about Pigmy kits or the quality of completed boats so, all comments welcome and appreciated

Thank you,

kayak couture part whatever.....

well today i finished the epoxy work on the boat (frej 90 15 feet long 19 inches wide)....so it is all seamed, bulkheads installed, skeg in, internal rigging points completed....so the only thing left now is finish sanding, varnish, seat, back-band and rigging.   so will be taking a couple months off during the winter until i can start work again in the spring....it should be quick work at that time.

Pygmy Osprey Triple/Ddouble

Submitted byMarcel onFri, 12/07/2018 - 06:58

Hi,

is there anyone, who has build the Osprey triple or double using the plans published in Woodenboat magazine?

I really need some advices.

Advices from someone build the Double/triple from a plan or kit could be very helpful too.

Main question left are:

- Is the spacer height 6.5" for all 3 spacers?
- Have the spacers to be aligned with the sheer line?
- Are the measurements given on the tempory frames (67 1/8; 132 5/8; 187 1/8) referenced to the bow tip or to the plywood plate like the offsets?

Thsnks,

Marcel

KayaLeg & KayaArm Stabilizing devices for launching a kayak

Submitted byKayaArm - KayaLeg onThu, 11/29/2018 - 21:35

My dad an Engineer invented two devices for stabilizing a kayak to make getting in and out of a kayak easier.  The first device KayaArm was invented and patented by my dad after my parents bought kayaks and my mom went for a bad swim and became extremely reluctant to join him for early morning and evening kayak trips (as they say necessity is the mother of invention).   After many prototypes he worked with a specialty aluminum fabrication shop in Canada and started selling them on the internet.  A guy who built a kayak using the information on this forum bought a KayaArm for his dock.  He s
