Hi All
I'm hoping to build my first kayak soon and I have chosen a Little Auk for my introductory project (hopefully with a curved top deck if I can work out how to plot and make the forms !). I can't afford plans so I'm working it out as I go. Is building the smaller version of the Great Auk just a matter of shortening the form spacings or is there more to it than that ? Any advice much appreciated...I have a feeling that I might become a regular visitor to this forum !!!

The Little Auk is strip…
The Little Auk is strip built. Do you know what you are doing as far as woodwork goes? Otherwise a plywood kayak is far easier to build, probably lighter and a 1/3 of the time to build.
The mention of the Vibe seems to be an advertisement, especially if the writer is writing on a building site and has never thought of building.
Strip looks nice but all of my near dozen are all plywood, built to be used and used hard.
