A friend who has paddled my Guillemot and my Silver now wants to build his own strip built kayak. Since he likes paddling in races, he is interested in buying plans for a sprint boat or a marathon boat. Not being a racer, I don't know if sprint and marathon are set design names or are very generic. The races that he paddles are 3-12 miles in water that ranges from completely flat to 1 foot chop, so he isn't interested in the extremely tippy Olympic style racing boats. Several of the races have portages in the middle, so the boat must be such that he can make a light weight version.

Anyone know of a designer who sells plans for this sort of boat? Thanks.
