Hello,

I am a high school wood shop teacher and I have had 9 students make clc type kayaks from Okume plywood in the past and 5 strip canoes, the problem I have is cost. We are now trying to find a lower cost alternative to the Okume and are hoping luan will work. I have read the post on the door skins but none of the local vendors carry it nor can they order it for us. They do carry 1/4" luan. We are building a variation of the 18' cape charles, would the 1/4" luan work on this project?

thanks in advance for the help and all the other great postings.

Roger
