My cockpit is also very tight, I suspect I may have the same problem. Yeah, that's the ticket, that's why I haven't put it in yet.

At least you had sense enough to get it off the floor and onto your bench serving a purpose. I insist on keeping mine on the floor where I stub my toe and trip on it constantly. Although I did use a slice of it to make a really neat fishing reel thingy like one they use in Australia. The lures and gear fit inside and the line wraps around it, it's watertight so the gear stays dry, and you can cast 30 or 40 feet with it. I just tuck it under my front bungees and paddle, I never know it's there till a fish hits.
