it is MUCH more slippery,,but when you're paddling up to a beach with rocks the first damage is HITTING rocks with kayak and paddler weight,,,in my case a 50#kayak and 200lb paddler. There's an energy level in the impact because of the weight and speed. If I get out and drag the kayak over rocks then yes that slipperiness is usefull since friction/abrasion is the most damaging affect but the energy is much less because the weight/momentum is much less. That's why I think more glass makes sense,,if you're sliding an empty kayak over round rocks it makes sense,,if you're sliding over round rocks while in the kayak then having more glass is necessary because a thin layer of graphite will do NOTHING to reduce dings into the wood that come from 250lbs hitting one point at 3mph,,,,which is what happens when landing near rocks.
