I'm planning to put a strip of glass on it but haven't done it yet. I loosened the wires completely and it straightened out so you can't really see the place where it cracked and bent. That's good, as it means the crack only went partway through. I'm thinking only the outside veneer cracked or maybe the inner core too, but not the inside layer of veneer. I'll cut a piece from my cloth instead of using the 6 oz tape I have for the inside seams.

The other seam that slipped went back into place when it was stitched to the top panel. Rather than take that one apart I'm planning to just glass the outside and probably put a strip of cloth on the inside when I do the crack. That should hold it.
