: the lid and lip you get a stronger bond than 1/16" and
: 1/8" as in my case. Drilling the lids for 1/8" magnets

Thanks for the response. I think I'm in your court about using 1/16" on the lid. I would just die if I drilled through the lid and I'm stripping with 3/16" strips so using 1/16" lid magnets gives a small safety margin.....
