Strip: Epoxy vs. PVC for laminations

Epoxy is often specified for glueing up stems and coaming lips. I've done mine with pvc thinking that it's used for 98% of the boat, why not the rest. And it's sure a lot easier to work with and clean up. Does epoxy offer more strength in these abused areas? Am wondering if I'll regret my choice later.

Thanks,
Ian
