West's pumps are generally pretty accurate. But initially they are full of air, pumping them, usually a sqirt or two is all you need into spare waste cups, one per container, will get rid of the air to insure you get complete pumps and insure that you pump them all the way, partial pumps will mess up the mixture. If you pump them both into one container and it's a small one it can get pretty hot, enough to start it smoking, the reason for separate containers. It's junk, toss it away. I'd recommend starting with a single pump each, mix completely and once you're sure it's mixed all the way, mix a bit more, and be sure to scrape the corners of the container as it's easy to get unmixed resin in them. The mixture takes quite awile to gel, unless for some odd reason you picked the fast hardener, so you have plenty of time to spread it, but bigger batches set faster unless it's put into a wide shallow container so it's got more area to let it stay cool. Once you're sure you can spread a single pumped batch you can mix more.

West has excellent free literature, worth getting and reading.
