: I am right at the point of glassing my first boat, probably this
: weekend. Never glassed before and posts like Paul's make my
: hands shake:(( Paul, please keep us informed how this
: peel/scrape/re-glass procedure turns out, never know when I may
: need to have this information:(( But, a question, should I do
: test pieces just to check the pump ratio correctness? If so how
: much is sufficient, one pump each, two? How do I check the
: quality of the glass after it hardens? Do I assume that if it
: gets hard it is correct? Unfortunately, I don't know what I
: don't know.
: Thank you,
: Randy

Btw, if you're not precoating the hull prior to glassing, which I highly recommend btw, make sure the temperatures in the shop are constant or falling when you're putting on the glass/resin. If the temps are rising, you're warming up the shop prior to glassing you can get outgassing thru the resin which will create bubbles in the new epoxy/glass, not a good thing. If you need to warm up the shop, make sure it's done well ahead of time so the boat, the resin and the glass are all at the same temperature. Outgassing is air in the wood expanding with the temperature and coming out of the wood.
