: storage. I was able to get the thicker 8 mill material and
: anticipate that I will be able to get a fair amount of testing
: in before I put on the polyester. A transparent version is
: available but that is not as strong. Cutting, taping and
: shrinking took less than 2 hours. Sewing the coming on took
: about 90 min. As long as I don't hit something sharp, the
: material is durable and if it gets stretched out, can be
: re-shrunk. The repair kit consists of the remainder of the roll
: of heat shrink tape used to put the skin on.

I'm not sure if the material is mylar or polyester film, both heat shrink, neither will hold paint well, there really is no way to roughen the surface to allow the paint to stick without destroying the film.

Definately want to avoid sharp things and don't want to drag it on the shore either, the material holds up pretty well but has almost no abrasion resistance and virtually zero puncture resistance, once punctured it tears really quickly.
