Snipe is a universal problem and doesn't have much to do with the price of the machine. In my professional woodworking career, even the industrial 24" thickness planers had issues with snipe. We simply planned for snipe, and counted it as part of the waste.

The only solution I know of to cure snipe is to have a super-long infeed and outfeed table that's the length of the board you are planing. I have seen setups for this in woodworking magazines, where the table is one piece and sets on top of the bed.

If you can, it's always best to have two people when you're thickness planing. That can help reduce it, but it won't eliminate it.
