I simply use a mincell foam "bulkhead" inside the end of my sea sock. It is shaped to fit tightly inside the kayak at that point, keeps the sock both firmly in place and off of my feet, and acts as a footrest. There's no blind fiddling around at arm's reach trying to get velcro stuck to itself . . . .
