I sail a small S&G pram with a small sail. Puffs of wind can hit so hard the mast spins in the socket. In something as narrow as a kayak the blow may be softened because the boat can roll so easily. But the mast is a big lever and can probably corkscrew a SOF hull at times.

: Anyone mounted sails on a sof? Can the structures deal well with
: the lateral loads? I'm pondering doing this to a Kudzu Curlew,
: although still in the very beginning stages of planning, haven't
: figgured out sail area, configuration, etc yet.
