: Many, many, many years ago (don't want to talk about how many ) I
: used to volunteer up there for the show, did it for about 7 or 8
: years. Nice show but it's gotten kinda pricy.

Good morning Bill,
This isn't the place to be discussing aircraft so this will be my last post on the subject. If there is anyone interested in additional information please email me rjechtinaw(at)toast.net IMHO - $17/day to camp in the worlds cleanest, friendliest, and probably biggest, campground. 500+ free 90 minute forums during the week covering every aviation related subject known to mankind. Daylong workshops - free again - that will teach you, hands-on, how to weld, woodwork, fiberglass, fabric cover, sheetmetal, electronics, etc. The opportunity to look at, touch and talk to the builders of 25% of all the homebuilt aircraft in the USA. The biggest and best air show in the world every night for free. The opportunity to "try on" every homebuilt design until you find the right one for you - - has to be the cheapest annual vacation ever - - and I have taken it for 40 years straight :)))

And the most important part of Oshkosh - all the airplane noise and smoke you can possibly absorb from daylight to dusk. Just to hear 5 P51 Mustangs fly over at 200 feet makes my hair stand on end:)) The Raptors were there in 2009 and put on the most amazing show. From 2000+ mph to vertical hover then accelerating straight up. My tax dollars at work, I wouldn't miss it for the world.

I applaud and thank you for your volunteering as I do everyone who volunteers. I never had time, always way to much to accomplish in one short week.
Randy
