That helps, I will most times run some strips along the sheer and taper fit others into them. That helps the strips conform to the upward sweep of the ends. But that is a choice not a requirement. You can trim the over hanging strips before the glass work. That will let you sand and smooth them to the hull while everything is still on the forms. Then glass the deck. The edges can be left running wild and trimed after the glass but if the strips don't conform before glassing they wont be better afterwards. Both ways will work however, I think that trimming the edges before the glass work would be a little less work IMHO.
