In Response To: Strip: Skeg control location (John Bratton)

: Nasty crosswinds are common so I am installing a retractible skeg
: on my latest build a Night Herring HD.

: Where should the control be mounted? I am right handed so I figured
: the control box should be on the left side in between the shear
: line and the combing lip just forward of my hip location....Is
: this correct?

Here's where I put mine. it seems to be about right for me, I'm left handed. A bit higher might have been better but then the cable would have had to bend around the cockpit opening more than I wanted. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1128/611679923_8edf305134.jpg
