Pay no attention to Scott, he's a known troublemaker around here....

Try to keep all knobs, hooks, and other deck "features" out of the "knuckle zone" is my recommendation. I am forever catching the skeg control on my Valley boat with my knuckles even after sanding it almost flat. Yeah, I know, it'd help a bunch if I cleaned up my stroke; but still, keeping the knuckle zone clear is never a terrible idea.
