: Hi Eric
: I recommend Tom's Sea Rider or Rolldarka for you - they will fit
: you fine, just as they are, and both are excellent boats. Both,
: in my opinion, handle better than the Sea Rover. You will be
: slopping around inside a Sea Tour or Sea Bee (which are no less
: complicated to build than a wooden framed Sea Rider), and you'd
: likely be much happier with the other boats. I've built all of
: these, except the Sea Bee.

Bill and Dave,

I'd make a joke about the pair of names, but I'd be dating myself... Thanks for the replies. True, the decision is one only I can make, but I always like to see what other's experience has been. I didn't think about longer boats requiring less radical bends. That's a great point. Also, it's an important distinction that most of Mr. Yost's displacement listings are for maximum paddler weight, not ideal paddler weight. I appreciate the suggestions, Dave. I'll look more closely at those designs. As far as the Sea Rider, I noticed that there are single and multi-chine versions. Choices, choices....

On a separate topic and running the inherent risks of trying to categorize things... I find it interesting that the Roldarka is a baidarka with a single chine, while the Sea Rider MC seems to be a Greenland kayak with baidarka-influence hull shape. If I'm looking at it correctly, it's two different ways to get a Greenland/Aleut hybrid.

Eric
