There's two kinds of "poplar". True poplar of the "populus" family and Tulip Poplar which is "liriodendrum tulipfora". It's later that they sell in the bigbox stores. They are both inclined to rot if not sealed perfectly

: Howdy;
: I have started building a greenland style SOF kayak and am getting
: some static about useing poplar for the gunnals. Is there any
: good reason to not use it?

: Thanks
