: I cover the whole boat without cutting out the hole for the cockpit
: then after it's all stretched I staple it to the top of the
: riser and cut the fabric opening afterwards. I attach the
: coaming riser and lip with Lexel and wood dowels which are
: yellow glued in place. Easier to remove the coaming this way if
: need be later on and there are no sharp screw edges either.

: This is all assuming a built up plywood coaming, Yost style.

Thank you Bill,
I had not heard of Lexel until now. I researched it and agree with you.
It sounds like I am on the right track and hope to get this coaming on before the weekend.
This Sea Pup belongs to my daughter Lilly and now that she is 11 years old, she insists on doing all the sewing herself... so I am waiting on her to get the skin finished up and we can get that coaming attached. She's doing a GREAT job and I am just tickled to watch her take such an active part in building this boat. We plan on making a start to finish video of this Sea Pup when its finished and on the water.... I have been taking video of it as it progresses and its really been fun to watch it all come together.
We even carved her another new paddle and its ready for a sealant before we get it wet.
I am living in an apartment building now... and we are doing this whole thing in a small storage unit area. Ha ha... the neighbors are all eyes most days... its fun to hear all the different comments.
I just wish it was a strip build I was working on and not a sof. But someday.... when I get an appropriate garage to set up in.. its my first priority to start one! I just gotta! Meanwhile, these sof kayaks are great to build and take out to use and abuse... :)

Now if I could just find the time to work on the kayaks, progress might speed up!

Smiles,
Heather
