It's nice to hear from someone local *grin*. I did put in next to the old railroad building, and I noticed it was a long way to the river proper. I'm convinced that was my wife's purpose when she recommended it, not that I'm going to complain about it. She stood like an anxious mother hen on shore, watching me paddle. When I paddled out of her sight on Long Pond, she was nothing but a ball of nerves, according to the rest of the family. She may be a bit overprotective right now, but I'm alright with that, until I get some more experience and (more) formal education. Being able to hit at least half of my rolls couldn't hurt *grin*.

Grafton was pretty nice... for Father's Day, it wasn't as busy as I thought, but there were still quite a few paddlers on the lake. Half an' half, rowboats and kayaks. A few canoes, one or two paddleboats. The water was rippling with a light breeze, and I don't imagine it gets much worse, due to the shape of the lake, proximity of the forest, and the surrounding terrain. Just not enough fetch to build up good waves. Only electric motors are allowed, too. That's all fine with me now. I imagine more experienced 'yakkers would look at it as a relaxing paddle, maybe to the point of boredom.

I'll check out the Boat House... I've driven past it enough times. That's the one on 146, on the other side of the river from that yachting club, right? I checked Paddle 'n' Pole out for equipment today, and wasn't shocked at their prices.

Those Point Bennett's have caught my eye, for no other reason than our mutual last name. I think it's on my list for future projects, since I'll want to do a S&G at some point. If we ever run into each other, I'll love to see what a "wasn't built by newbie paddler and woodworker" kayak looks like.
