Epoxy: Near miss...

I went to mom's after work last night to add a second fill coat to Linda's Solace 16. I opted to mix a large batch of epoxy since I was also filling the weave on Keith's Solace 17. Wouldn't you know it...I was almost done coating Linda's kayak when I notice that the cup I mixed the epoxy in was getting rather warm. The viscosity of the epoxy was very low so I figured I had lots of time to use it. I needed no more than 15 minutes to get it all done. Oddly enough, as soon as the now fairly warm epoxy hit the deck and cooled, the viscosity increased quite a bit so that I couldn't roll it on easily. I immediately tossed what was left of the now hot epoxy, whipped out my squeegee and started scraping off the now thick goo off the decks. Luckily, I managed to get both of them coated before matters became impossible but now I am wondering just how that happened. I am using pumps which dole out the appropriate ration of resin and hardener, so a single pump per can does it. I have used these pumps throughout the entire kayak building experience with no problems, except once when the resin pump blew apart mid-pump one night. I inspected the decks this morning and found everything to be ok, a few scraper marks are present but since the decks have to be sanded prior to varnishing, no big deal, the marks aren't deep since I scraped off all excess epoxy last night. I am thinking that I need to figure out if these darned pumps are pumping out the right amounts. Any ideas?
