You'll also benefit if you keep that nylon soaking wet while you stretch it on.

One of the things I like about sewing (never tried stapling) is that I can always whip another row of stitches down the center and gather in more material and tension the skin further.

What if the staples loosen and pull out? Nylon is funny how it shrinks and expands. The wood expands and contracts too. Sewing is dependable I think because you're basically making a custom fit bag independent of any other structure?
