Black Stain/Dye

How about wiping on some India ink? Wear gloves, use a rag, wipe it on and let it sit just a few seconds. It should soak deeply into the pores almost immediately. When it dries it will be waterproof, but light sanding may lighten the color. Test it on scrap.

try diluting it,with water.

Just a thought.
