: Taking this sugestion one step further, take a piece of cardboard,
: cut out a rough shape with about a 1" gap on all sides from
: where you want the bulkhead to be. Attach this to a 2x4 or
: something else to brace it upright. Next install it into the
: boat in the desired location and start taping strips of paper to
: the cardboard to fill the gap. It doesn't matter how many pieces
: it takes, but just keep adding paper till you got the shape
: filled in. Trace the resulting mess to a piece of paper and you
: have your pattern.

: On a related note, whenever I am working inside a boat in an
: awkward place, I just bring out a webcam with a long cord and a
: laptop. Stick the web cam inside the hull with a view to where
: you are working (use a flashlight too if you need it), and put
: the laptop on top of the deck. Tada you can now do arthroscopic
: surgery on your kayak instead of having to stuff your head in
