There is a way to match the angles on the two pieces so they come out properly. The thing that will give you a straight scarf is having the angles on both pieces identical. You get that by "stair stepping". Put one strip on top of the other, orient the angled ends so they both form one continuous surface and run a block plane down the angle so the high spot are taken off. If both angles come out identical the finished product will be straight. I also use the inside angle of a piece of angle iron as a clamping fixture to keep the pieces straight as the glue hardens.

is is a litltle silly but I'm have a problem scarfing sheer
: strips. I have a jig so both strips are cut at the same angle by
: the pull saw, but when I glue (Titebond II) them together I am
: coming out with a slight angle. I need them as perfect as
: possible since theyll be the first ones on the boat

: How do you all clamp scarfs so that you get decent strips?
