: Seems to me if you use the clamps at the ends of the joint, you
: will get a nice hold without the slippage. If I had that
: problem, I'd be using lengths of wood a bit longer than the
: joint and clamping the whole shebang together. The two wood
: pieces would hold it all together quite nicely. If I am wrong,
: someone outta tell me, I will be slicing my wood for the NH
: stripper this winter.

: On another interesting note, the lab I used to work in is being
: demolished. It was built 50-yrs ago and the entire front office
: and lunch area ceilings were done in ancient growth clear cedar.
: I aim to ask, no...to crawl into the property managers office,
: grab someone's pant leg and beg to remove all that beautiful
: wood. I used to sit there 10 years ago when I first started
: building and just stared at the ceiling trying to figure out how
: many strippers I could build from that material. I pray I get my
: chance to get in there. The wood is at least 3/4" thick, it
: must not be wasted.

Hi Robert,
Go for that cedar.

On the joint clamping. Using lengths of wood to act as a clamp is an old method with gluing. You need wood that is curved or bowed slightly so the wood puts pressure between the actual clamps at the ends of the joint.
