That's a lovely looking boat, maybe it's too early to start anything as radical as cutting it up. At first I couldn't make my Guillemot go straight without using the skeg but as I became more used to it I used the skeg less and less. Also, you could try going out in chop rather than flat water: in waves I never have a problem. Lastly, what about installing a skeg?

: Hi All, I don't know if it's right or wrong to start a new thread
: (if right I'll chalk it up to dumb luck if wrong I apologize
: )but I really
: need some help I'm deep in the dumps. First I set the seat as far
: back as possible, then put the boat in water and weighed the
: stern with 12lbs. which made it close to level, but still hooked
: both left and right. Soo I think it's time for major surgery
: however
: I need lots of help. To start should I cut the coaming on the 45 or
: square in the center of the cockpit or do I remove the whole
: coaming
: (hope it's not this) and replace new. I'm going this route to keep
: the weight down, Next biggie is how much to remove ,there is 2
: 1/4in.
: from outside of coaming to the feature strip that outlines the
: cockpit recess and if Bill Hamm reads this it goes beyond
: beginner question
: (hummm hummm trying to laugh through my tears) and for Bob's advice
: there will be NO rolling for this old geezer. As always all
: advise is cheerfully accepted Thank you All Nick R.
