Skin-on-Frame: Finished Sea Bee and Float bag question *PIC*

Hey all,

I just finished my Sea Bee, but it will probably be a week before I can launch it...sigh...

In the meantime the canal and river route I've been trying out my first kayak in you can pretty much walk out of, so I haven't worried about float bags yet. In a few weeks we're going to the beach, and I want my wife and I to be able to go out in the bay. So, I have materials for float bags on the way. My question is about size. How big do they need to be. Tom Yost's dimensions are 16x48 I believe, but thats actually too big to fit in the bow of the Sea Bee. Will I have enough floatation if I keep the stern 16x48, and cut the bow bag down to 16x 38? I guess I could even make the bow 18x38, or even 20x38 if need be.

Thoughts?

-John
