Hey Joy, what's the deal with the neat and tidy shop? Are y'all some sort of commies or something?? (Ha ha, just kidding, that's a beautiful picture!)

I musta took a few clues from Uncle Jay, because he says a couple things I thought I should've mentioned. Over-beveling is an easy way to get perfect outside seams, but leaves gaps on the inside. This can become a real PITA in general practice, but for tough areas I don't worry about it since they're relatively small and easily dealt with. Also, I don't worry with dookie-schmutz for filling, just use good old easy-to-sand water based wood filler.

And yes, the low angle block plane rules! I want one of those fancy brass ones, but still use my sub-$50 Stanley. And use it all the time, too. One of the very best tool values imaginable today.
