: Seems like a rather simple task, but i'm worried a bit about
: drilling the ends for the grab loops. I forsee the drill bit
: running across the slanted/curved surface of the hull. Anyone
: have words of wisdom on a technique?

Everything done carefully will yield the best result.

Apply a piece of masking tape to the spot you will drill. Mark the spot with a pencil.

Look at it. Will your hole be too close to the edge, or too far from it?

Use an awl to create a dent. Drill a pilot hole with a smaller diameter drill bit. Look down from
above to make certain your bit is perpendicular to the deck centerline as it goes through.

If you like everything, then drill with the full size drill bit. Use a counter sink bit to bevel off the sharp edges,
and apply three coats of epoxy to seal the wood.
