Skin-on-Frame: coaming stitch fabric pulls *PIC*

I was just fitting some foam for thigh brace/pads, when I noticed the fabric pulls that have developed in the 8 oz polyester (top). In my only outing, I had pushed my knees into the cloth for some edging, but I had done the same thing on multiple outings, with the 12 oz nylon (bottom). Both are uncoated at the inner coaming location.

I'm a bit worried about this. Maybe I should have painted the polyester there, which would help resist pulls. But, that would be difficult to do neatly, even with masking. Does everyone else paint, there? Also, I guess the polyester is not UV resistant, while the particular nylon I had used, is UV resistant.

I guess I won't have to worry about this in a next effort, as I've already decided to revert to Yost style plywood with frame-integrated base ring, since it would best adapt to a keyhole/brace setup.
