There's no doubt in my mind that canoeing makes you a better kayaker. I'm able to link strokes, do all kinds of slots, draws and posts in my kayak because of the time I spent learning to freestyle canoe. I definately have more control over my kayak now than I would have had if I didn't learn freestyle.
