: all?

Hi Scott,

No, I did not alter any spacing...at least not intentionally. When my daughter and I built this kayak, we were too rushed to measure the form spacing to anything better than a couple inches accuracy. We sort of pulled it together with bungey cords with the forms roughly where they belonged and it looked good, so we started mixing epoxy.

We used 3/4" plywood at the hatch stations, just because my 1/2" stuff was full of voids and I had some decent 3/4" scraps laying around. I also reduced the cross-section sizes of the stringers (gunwales, chines, etc) because I happened to have some nice, strong CVG douglas fir. Otherwise, it's built to the plans. I did have a little difficulty with one gunwale being stiffer than the other, so the frame was very asymmetric when it was assembled with just the first and last forms attached to the strongback. So I added another support to attach the form at the front of the hatch (masik?) to the strongback, and this straightened it out just fine. If you're interested, I posted some other pictures a few weeks ago, but no construction photos. Just search "sea pup" and scroll down to my launch report.
