Actually it is part of New Zealand, we sometimes call it the West Island though I don't know if the Ozzies see the joke. We keep sending Kiwis over there to run the island. Nearly as many NZers there as here. We did have a primeminister say that NZers going to Australia raised the intellect of both countries !!! (Think about it.)
The bit of water between us is just a ditch (about 1200 miles wide) - read "Crossing the Ditch" by a couple of Ozzie paddlers.
You could check the NZ site for uses of Pawlonia, there was a bit of a discussion on it a while ago.
