I call the deck leaks mini drain plugs.

In Response To: Skin-on-Frame: Easy leak detection (Stephen Troy)

I do the same test on my boats. Only I leave the pin holes on the deck seams as is, that way any water that is left in my boat drains out when I hang the boats up upside down. Its doubly lazy, because not only did I not have to fix them, I also didn't have to put in a drain plug.
