S&G: Hey, it ain't just for kayaks! *PIC*

I thought I would share this. Amy wanted a hood on the buggy so her legs don't get sunburned. Well, heck I wanted one too anyway so I devised this idea in my head, went and got some 1/8" ply, and used the stitch-n-glue method to make a hood for the dune buggy. It worked amazingly well. I happened to have some 20 ounce cloth on hand (obviously not from kayak building) and used that for the skin. Not sure about inside yet because that took TONS of very expensive epoxy. The plan was to go a layer each side, and a top layer of 9 ounce after sanding and filling.

I just measured carefully, cut the top panel, and then held the side panels up to it as I weighted it down to get the fair curve I wanted. I marked where the panels met, cut, and stitch-n-glued. Pretty simple. Took about an hour for the whole process to get to the glassing point, and forever to get that thick glass to wet out! BTW, this was done as Tropical Storm Maria passed just NE of us, and I glassed between rain bands and then covered it with a tarp. The tall shock towers kept the tarp elevated off the glass. :-)
