: I've purchase a Guillimot Great Auk strip that is 70% complete -
: however I don't have the plans. I need to build the coaming
: riser but don't know the specifics. Will someone please suggest
: 1. total finished height of riser
: 2. thickness of ring (total; riser thickiness + ring thickness)
: 3. distance from deck to bottom of coaming ring

: Thanks in advance ... I'll upload pics later

You should consider purchasing Nicks first book "the strip build sea kayak" 20 bucks from Nicks site and considered by many to be a close substitute to the bible ( no religious undertones intended). The great auk is described in detail along with the offsets to build that boat. In the book and common practice is 3/4 inch tall and 3/4 inch out for the lip. You have definetly found the right place to hang out welcome to the club.
