: You should consider purchasing Nicks first book "the strip
: build sea kayak" 20 bucks from Nicks site and considered by
: many to be a close substitute to the bible ( no religious
: undertones intended). The great auk is described in detail along
: with the offsets to build that boat. In the book and common
: practice is 3/4 inch tall and 3/4 inch out for the lip. You have
: definetly found the right place to hang out welcome to the club.

Yeah, 3/4" x 3/4" is the average for most commercial kayaks too.

Holds the skirt well and is high enough off the deck to make getting the skirt on and off easy too.
