A friend of mine and his wife race a 26' long carbon fiber/Nomex honeycomb Nelo Waterman K2. They carry it on an older 3-door Honda Civic hatchback using the Burnhams. Talk about a strange sight. Their Nelo has an ultralight build and is quite delicate. They've taken it up and down the US east coast and have had no issues. They do use bow and stern lines due to the wicked overhangs. I'll upload a picture later...

BTW: The slings should be easy to make for those inclined.
