That is actually true, the reason is that the lower bow makes the fore deck look longer than it actually is and that the cut in at the transom shortens the rear deck without compromising the waterline and buoyancy in the rear.

if one was to continue the line of the sheer at the back until it joined together naturally it would probably add a good foot or more to the rear deck, and even though this would not add any buoyancy there it would be visually very different.

So it looks as if one is sitting more rearward than in other kayaks. I like the effect, it looks kind of sporty, like a muscle car with a long hood.

Still, this is a big departure on the Dyson original and I want to put in a smallish cockpit, so I want to get it right.
