: before he died. She doesn't look in to bad of shape and I've
: been told it's an old one but I'm not so sure. Since I know very
: little about lap strake construction, I'm wondering if anyone
: here has any experience with making repairs and if anyone has
: any idea how to determine age and manufacturer. I plan to pull
: the cover and do some looking tomorrow before it snows.

There's a chapter on Canoe Restoration and Repair in "The Wood and Canvas Canoe" by Stelmuk and Thurlow, 1987, published in US by Harspwell Press. Although not primarily for lapstrake boats, it has a lot of useful information about repairs to planking, ribs, 'wales, seats and stems, maintaining boat shape during the work, color matching and refinishing.
