Strip: Coot sail rig

My hull and seats are done. I've been delaying putting the parts together because I can't decide whether or not to install a mast step and daggerboard trunk. I've been an avid sailor for 40+ years. The problem is that installation would require cutting a HOLE in my perfect hull (I've decided that lee boards are not an option).
Anyone out there who has sailed/built a Coot? I've tentatively positioned the mast step just aft of and attached to the bow seat transverse support. The daggerboard trunk will be positioned as far aft in the seat support box as possible. Does the placement produce a balanced rig? I'll probably use the rudder & daggerboard design from the D4 dinghy. Any opinions?
Thanks,
Harry
