You will get good strength by using plywood for the bulkheads. The bulkheads can be easily shaped to fit and glassed into place. Donnie, at Waters Dancing (watersdancing.com) sells a 12' foot sectional which uses plywood bulkheads and bolts to hold it all together. The bolts have wooden knobs attached for ease of handling.
