: This is a topic that comes up frequently, so of course, I can't
: find it in the archives...

: My current build is primairly dark (chocolate) WRC, with a few
: white (poplar) accents and a center strip of African Mahogony.

: In the past, I've gone with the layered FG/carbon fiber cloth ala'
: Vaclav and a few others, but decided to go with bent wood for
: the
: coming this time around, for a change of pace, and to allow the
: strips to show in the riser, in and outside. I built a ring
: first of dark WRC -
: but found it brittle, and didn't care for 'the look'. So I built
: another one - using African mahogony. It appears 'too light' in
: contrast to the
: darker WRC.

: So I'm looking for 'Plan C' at this point. I'd post a pic of what
: I've got, but..... Santa didn't replace the digital camera that
: just went on the blink.
: This crowd usually handles the mental pics well; what'cha think?
If you try walnut be sure to look closely at the boards I bought some at Dunn lumber and the color varied alot. Like you I was hoping for a nice dark contrast which did work using maple pin stripes. It bends pretty well but I remember soaking the pieces for a couple of hour first.
