Yes the paddles are from Nick's book. As you say, a great little project.
I just loved laminating the blades. WRC, ash and black walnut.

The shafts are hollow (1/2" bull nose cutter) two strips of WRC. joined with
thickened epoxy. I did a straight cut to create the offset. A 5" ash dowel and
a wrap of glass around the centre of the finished shaft seems to work fine.
I was a bit worried about the strength, but they have stood up to everything
so far that my two sons and I have asked of them.
