: Has anyone tried Bomar locking pryout deck plates? I'm thinking of
: replacing my troublesome Beckson screw-in. It's pricey, but I
: have a compression latch on the front and I like it. Secure?
: Good use on a kayak? I think someone said they'd used them,
: maybe Don Goss?

Can't help you on the locking Bomars but I did accidentally buy some 8" non-locking pry-out Bomars about 4 years ago. I still have them and dragged one out. They are a very dull black, not as shiny as the Becksons. I also put one on the scale and compared it to the Beckson: 8" Bomar non-locking pryout (complete with rim and lid) = 11.4 oz. 8" screw-in Beckson = 14.6oz. No idea what a pry-out Beckson weighs.

In the end this will probably just be a tidbit of useless knowledge...
