It does leak a little, but not as much as it did before I discovered that they hadn't shipped it with a gasket and I picked up a new gasket (they were very helpful and sent it for free). I have a black Beckson screw-in, and it sticks due to expansion/contraction when it's in the sun and hot or not in the sun and cool, and I don't want to have to carry a tool to open the hatch.

I made a wooden hatch in front that has a Southco Marine compression latch, and I am very happy with its performance, although I wish I'd gotten the locking version because it makes me nervous about failure if I get a big wave dumped on me.
